About the Owners

A Fredericksburg resident since 1997, Blake Bethem grew up in nearby Dale City. After a tour in the Marine Corps, Blake earned his Culinary Arts degree from Johnson & Wales, Norfolk. Both experiences shine through in the kitchen as pride in his craft and a passion for excellence guide his menu. Aby met Blake while they were both working at the Riverview restaurant in Fredericksburg. At the time, she was a business student at Mary Washington College (now University of Mary Washington). They married in October 2003 and purchased the Bistro in May 2004. Since then, the combination of a creative, hardworking chef and a level-headed business woman has proven to be the perfect blend for success. With their three growing children, the bistro is truly a family-run enterprise. The Bethems hope that their love for each other reflects on all of the guests at the Bistro Bethem.
